LOWER MAINLAND/FRASER VALLEY LAKE RAINBOW TROUT FISHERY

Spring is finally showing itself in 2008 and rainbow trout fishing in lakes across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley is once again starting to heat up. The Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery, operated by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, has started its rainbow trout stocking this week. Stockings will continue until June, so fishing is expected to be excellent in the next several months. These angling opportunities are fantastic for families, youth and entry-level anglers due to high catch success rate.

We will once again be providing regular stocking reports to keep you updated so you can plan your next weekend fishing trip better. Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley lake stocking reports will be available in this thread as well as on this page. You can also find archived reports of catchable rainbow trout stockings across BC in this section of the website.

So true! I live near Como lake and I am always telling adults (well over 16 but no where near 65+) to bugger off and read the signs. I always love the excuse that thier kid is actually the one fishing, he's just across the lake in the playground right now.. he'll be right back.

Human nature push the envelope until the boundary is found. Sounds like fisheries needs to start spanking a few adult children, once the message gets out, it will stop.

Just so everyone knows, I took a drive upto Mike lake yesterday and the gate is open but the parking lot is covered in snow and the lake still has ice on it. Well at 3/4 of the lake does have ice and snow. It will be a while yet before the lake is fishable.

I believe so but I don't think as much as places like Mike, Green Timbers or LaFarge but I may be wrong on that, I go there once in a while, as it is easy access for me, since I can hardly walk some days, and yes I have the $1 disability license. I hate mentioning that I have that license but other forums people jump on me with the under 16 over 65 routine and I should not be going there.....

Problem with Como is same old crowd catches limit everday. The kids don't have a long time to enjoy the good fishing for a long time. Why not make the limit 2 fish instead of 4. It's not supposed to be a freezer filling fishery.

Second batch of lake stockings will take place starting today. The bulk of the stockings will happen next week, just before the launch of "Fishing in the City" program by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC at Rice Lake on Saturday April 12th. I will have more information on that event as well as the latest stocking updates very soon.
