Deer Lake in Burnaby will be stocked later this week.

Now that I live near Deer lake in Burnaby and looking at the stocking data, seems strange that the lake was only stocked once in July 2011 (1000) and nothing since while smaller lakes like Lafarge get multiple stockings even within a single month 

This has been pondered many times ?

They just stocked Rice today. Super fun.. they were actually taking spinners. I forgot how much fun spinning was. Then the bites cooled off and I finally got to try retrieving a fly with a bubble float. Been meaning to do it for a while. Almost one every cast.

Bait under a float, which usually works there didn't at all today.

I actually caught one that had been in the lake for a while on a spinner. Different coloration. I thought it was a cutthroat for a second. There were some decent sized fish, fun on my ultralight rod and reel.

Brohm, Browning, Edith, Deer, Mill, Lafarge, Green Timbers and Rice were stocked this week. Just waiting for confirmation with numbers from the hatchery tomorrow. Have a great fishing weekend!

was in one of the lakes today    baby mosquito and fly are so many! I guess it's spring and almost summer   it's kinda annoying
and fishing is not really productive    just caught 2     found tons of mosquito in one of fish's belly lol   i  guess they are all fed up

I was at Buntzen briefly yesterday, just taking a look but did not see any surface activity except one jump along the eastern shoreline. Perhaps it is still too cold?

Lafarge and Como Lakes are still producing well for those who are taking advantage of this weekend's good weather. Green Timbers is not bad too from what I have heard. Rice and Mill are probably not bad either.

There is a road bike race happening on Saturday along the road through Golden Ears Park in case anyone is considering going up to Mike Lake. The road is open for vehicle traffic but expect some delays.

No stockings are expected this week as the hatchery is busy with anadromous cutthroat trout and juvenile steelhead stockings at some Lower Mainland streams.
