Chilliwack's All About Fishing will be happening again, on Saturday March 9th, from 9am to 3pm. This is a free event. Here is the website which provides a brief overview of the event for now, more details will be added:

http://www.fishingwithrod.com/all-about-fishing/

New this year will be Fraser Valley Salmon Society's used fishing tackle sale. We are aiming for having thirty tables available so if you'd like to take one, please email me at info@fishingwithrod.com. It will be $40/table this year. Half of the money will go to the event cost, while the other half will go to FVSS.

There is also a Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/505162653301580/

I will be looking for volunteers to help out, so contact me if interested.

I look forward to see you there!

This year's event is sponsored by Tourism Chilliwack, Gibbs Delta Tackle, Fred's Custom Tackle, Chilliwack Dart and Tackle, Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and my website. Each has put in $1,000 (except Tourism Chilliwack, which has provided $2,000) so there's enough to run a really good event.

* In the conservation/stewardship section of the event, so far the following groups have committed to be there:

Fisheries and Oceans Canada C&P
Chilliwack Salmon Hatchery
Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition
Watershed Watch Salmon Society
Fraser River Sportfishing Alliance
Ducks Unlimited
Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society

* 7 tables have been reserved for the used fishing tackle sale.

Please have a giant banner set up explaining the evils of LOW-HOLEING and how not, to do it. The Chilliwack river gets worse every year with this sort of behavior and needs to be addressed...………..again.

Great idea. You're welcome to come out and set up a table for that.

HAHA...Touché. However, I'm sure there would be a brawl....

I'm being serious. Angling education is a focus at this event, so if there is a need for that awareness which you've suggested, then you're welcome to put together a table with information etc and show people how it should be done.

And why would there be a brawl? It's a family event and everyone attending it either wants to learn or share what they already know.

BC Federation of Fly Fishers will once again be there with at least 10 members helping out the fly casting workshops, both adult and kids fly casting. Peter Caverhill has developed this great idea for teaching kids how to fly cast while keeping it fun. I'll have an area designated for this so be sure to bring your kids out for it.

Fred's Custom Tackle is also sponsoring the fly fishing section of the event and there'll be lots of features that you don't want to miss. Fred and I are working on these so there'll be a bit of everything for both novice and advanced fly fishers.

;D ;D

Easy to point out problems and complain, only a few won't walk away when asked to solve the problems. ;)

Hope you can take up Rodney's offer as it would be good for you to explain to others what you are speaking about, especially young anglers.

Another update. It looks like I'll be setting up a big screen with projector at this year's event. I'm slowly putting together a line-up of scheduled live presentations. Nick most likely will be doing one on Chilliwack River steelhead techniques so you definitely do not want to miss that. We are also going to be showing segments from the Fly Fishing Film Tour throughout the day, Mariko Izumi is going to be hosting it. I'd say that's going to be a pretty good day for a free event. ;)

Rodney,
thank you for all the effort you put into events such as this!
It's great to see such enthusiasm for participating in all the fishing related projects in Chilliwack.
As a Chilliwack resident for the past 43 years I was happy that you finally made the move to "God's Country"

I do enjoy doing this and have a lot of fun with it, sometimes more than the fishing itself. :)

People should check this out if they get the chance. I watched the full F3T showing this year, and it was very good. Cinematography was top notch for all the films. If they show the tarpon one, do not miss it.

The films that are going to be shown will be new ones for 2019 I think. :)

I expect to see you there Dan! ;D
