I just wanted to congradulate THE ROE KID on a job well done, and to all the other contestants, keep your stick on the ice. But if you would like to write more stories, there is no better way to start than with a sleak mint condition laptop computer, see the buy and sell thread. Excellent prizes rod, look forward to reading the winners storys, and some more contests like this in the future.

Packages are going out tomorrow morning.

Birdman, I've sent yours in cohokid's since you two go fishing together (so he tells me...). There are two bags in the package, one of you, one for him.

The Roe Kid, I've sent stinkytroutboy's in your box too. It'll be at the very top with his name on it when you open it up.

A summer at EGMONT

By Stinkytroutboy

My favorite words to hear in morning “WAKE UP HIGH TIDES AT 6.” This summer I traveled up to Egmont a little place in the sunshine coast me my uncle Linus and dad. 4 30 AM sharp “SON SON WAKE UP…. WE HAVE TO GO GET WORMS ITS LOW TIDE” … boom I shoot up lace my hoofs and I am reading to go creek out of the cabin don’t want to wake the rest of camper hike down the hill to the beach my uncles already down there lifting rocks looking for some nice sea worms to catch our bait. Egmont is a little inlet I beautiful fishing spot for ling cod, rock cod, ousters, shrimps, red snapper, and the odd salmon .  After getting worms its about 6 15 sneak on the secret dock of the marina to try and catch some live bait Stripe Perch, Blue bass , Shiner Perch.  Reach into the bucket of worms cut of half a piece of a big juicy sucker BOOM right away a nice striper…. Not stop for half hour it was hard not to catch a fish.

After we have enough bait for a good day of fishing, we rev up the engine of are nice little 16 footer (Perfect size for fishing if I might add) R r R r R r R Clunk. There goes the propeller My uncle linus didn’t put it on properly It looked like fifteen hundred dollars being zapped into a black hole.

Hey but its just a propeller,  “you still have those wooden things” my uncle suggests. He suggests it because he knows that he is not the one whose going to be paddling, after about half and hour of shoulder pain we get to a nice calm spot we stop.  Bait up the rod with a nice Striped perch (for ling fishing I like to use two trouble hooks on 20 pound liter) I Drag the bait down slowly so my fish does go into shock, At about 55 feet  My bait stops going down my uncle and my dads meters are well below 60. So all I could think was HOOK SET BAM “FISH ON”  not a small one either these Ling cod fool you they make you think that there 11 pound fish and when your not ready szszszzszszszszs they take off.  This fish is all around the boat. All of the sudden I hear my dad say “ FISH ON “ MY uncle was sitting there waiting to say the magic two words as well.  After about 22 minutes of fighting It eases in pull the fish on board with a gaff, check the wait on the electric scale 42 pounds!!!!!! After another 7 hours of non stop fish at the end we brought home 2 RED SNAPER 8 LINGCOD each over 20 pounds 4 ROCK CODS over 6 pounds And one odd 23 inch flounder that bit a shiner.

ALL IN ALL A GOOD 3 DAYS OF FISHING.  At the end of the trip just joking around with a spinner off the dock my uncle Linus hooked on a 15 pound spring just to top the week off.

Cohoslayer's story

I have had a pretty memorable fishing trip. I was about 12 years of age and it all started when my dad came home with a fishing rod that he had bought for himself. After talking him into buying me a rod? He said he will go out and and get me one, one day. I was said where would we go fishing in the Fall.

He said there was so many rivers which salmon go up and spawn. So when the first weekend into October we went out and grabbed a rod for me. The next day my dad comes and wakes me up and says lets go fishing!! I was like the sun is not even up yet, He said that’s the best time to go.I finally crawled out of bed and put all my clothes on backwards and didn't even know it. I had know clue of the name of river at the time I just thought that I was going fishing and that was all that mattered. So it seemed it took like 5 hours to get there I was so excited. When we finally got there it was still dark and I was falling asleep in the back seat.

When we got to the fishing spot the sun was just cresting over the mountains. We started to fish and in the first cast I got a huge birds nest but I pulled it out and started fishing again, getting better as I watched and tuned my reel. My dad yells out to me look on the other side of the river!! I looked and there was a bear walking on the other side, looking for a nice tasty salmon to eat. It was about a half an hour in, my dad says Fish On! it close to shore my heart was beating so hard I though I thought it was going to explode of excitement. As he brought it closer and closer I got more and more excited as it got about ten feet away from shore it was a chum and I said can I keep? He started to laugh and said it was a dog! I thought about it for a while and thought it was really a dog. So we continued to fish and I was watching my float and it went under just slightly and my heart jumped out of my chest So I pulled up and it was a snag I was disappointed so I started to tug on it but the my float suddenly shot up stream and I had a giant fish on!!! So it ran about 50 feet and jumped four feet out of the air and it was super chrome fish. My dad jumps to help me out because I can barely hold onto hold onto the rod! So we both fight the fish because I couldn’t handle it. So about 15 minutes of sweating and getting beat tired we finally get the fish close to come in. I was so excited for my first fish and pulled And pulled it up onto the beach! It was my first salmon and it was a giant fish, didn’t  know any of the names of the salmon back then. My dad says it was a spring, so I said again can I keep this one and said yes. I was so happy I didn’t care if I caught another fish! So after all the butterflies went away and my hands stop shaking we start to fish again. I casted out and my float went down again so I pulled up on my rod and I was another fish and it jumped into the air and was chrome to so my dad watched me this time because he knew it was a smaller fish. I started to reel in and my dad said it was a Coho! I got really excited and started reel faster but he said slow down or you are going to lose it. So I finally get it on to the beach and he said it was hatchy , I didn’t know what to think and he started to bonk it. He looked at me and said you are having some pretty good beginners luck. So we started to fish again. It was around noon and some guys were started to surround us. My dad finally yells fish on! It was another Coho! I could pretty much feel his excitement. We get the fish in and it was another hatchy fish. We were pretty happy that we got that one because the rest of the day we had nothing. But I was said to my dad last 5 cast and we will head home. So on the last cast I yell fish ON!! Same with my dad!! We start to reel the two fish in and it was two Coho one hatchy and one wild. Of course with my beginner luck mine was hatchy. So I limit out and it was my first day ever fishing on the Vedder River. I was so excited I wanted to know when the next we are going!

After this experience of fishing I have been going out all the time. More and more time each year. I have got a lot more experience and hope to become the greatest fishermen in the world. I have trouble at stop going out and fishing!

Most Memorable Fishing Trip

By cohokid

Cord...Cord.  "yeah" I reply ."fishing. get ready" I as stumble down the
stairs at  4:30 in the morning I find something to eat. As I'm eating
thoughts of a mighty steelhead are running through are running though my
head. As we pick up one of my good fishing buddies Matteo at 5:00, we start
talking about fishing, and how we'd all love to hook a mighty steelhead. On
the highway #1 I look into the sky and see that its going to be a clear day.

We arrive at the river at one of our favorite spots at 6:00 and are shocked
to see 1 other person fishing. We talked to him for a while. We fish for a
few hours then wondered down river, then wondered up, then decided to go to
another drive down river. We stop at another favorite spot and are shocked
to see no one in sight, We then proceed to fish. Cast after cast went but
what seemed to be 1000 cast and my float still going through the water nice
and easy. As around 11:30 hits we decide it would be a good time to go to
the truck and get some lunch before heading off to another spot down river
more. We eat and argue were we would like to go. I won and we went to one of
the spots I hate the most, but I always seem to get some fish. We arrive and
I see there is around 4 people there. I talked to one fellow who had already
hooked 2 steelhead in the spot he was in and as we were talking BAM another
one on.  The fished quickly took off down river with his center pin
screaming. He comes back and said take my spot, I am going to go. I take his
spot and casting what seemed to be another 1000 casts, and I here a splash
and a big plunk. I look over and see my buddy Matteo that way trying to
cross a little side channel had fallen in. He gets up and he is a pro when
it comes to falling in the river, and isn't even wet. We then start fishing
again. Matteo decides he need to do some business in the bush and goes off
with the might toilet paper. So then I cast and at the end of my drift I
feel a pull. I do a nice set and I big 15+ pound steelhead jumps clear out
of the water. My jaw drops and instantly I say "Fish On" Matteo comes
running out of the bush, "you got one" he replies. I say " yeah" as my heart
is pounding so fast I thought I was going to have a heart attack.  My center
pin starts screaming as I watch the fish take off down river. I slowly start
walking down. 10 minutes into the battle and it was still taking off down
river. 5 more minutes go buy and I walk down river a little more to notice
the fish was still taking off down river, but my line is tangled around a
boulder. I then make a decision of a life time. Try to wade out and tangle
it in raging water our break it off. I thought through my head as my center
pin is still getting line pulled off. Then I stop the reel from any
movement. I feel my heart sink into the river, and a pop on my line. It's
gone. All that casting, walking, hiking, tying, has gone down the river.  I
then tie up and fish the sport for another hour, and no one more hit. I then
decide time to go home. On the way home I cant sleep as my adrenaline is
still pumping through my blood. I get home and call my friend who didn't
think we would catch anything as it was early in the season. He didn't
belive me that I hooked one this early in the season. The funny thing was it
that he has never been steelheading before and it was January 6th when we
went.

The reason I chose this fishing trip as my most memorable fishing trip is
the fact that it was me and my dad and one of my good buddies out on the
water having good time, passing the jokes. Even though I didn't land the
fish it's still one of my favorite things to do, is  to get out away from
school, the city, and head out and just worry about my float and if Matteo
has fallen in the water again.
