The DFO Notice cites the Provincial Order, so it is a total closure.

I was on the Squamish above the Mamquam yesterday. At about 10am I measured a water temperature of 56F. Water was high when I got there but dropped a foot or so quickly. Fishing was not good and others commented that fish numbers have dropped in the past week.

That's very disappointing, but understandable.

My 9 year old son and I were going to head over there early tomorrow morning.

The post stated that the Squamish was 56 degrees. The Mamquam and the cheakamus temps are far higher, I have wet waded them both comfortably since June, and I'm a cold water wimp.

Some people are ripping and snagging.
Those fish are easily abused and some of them have already paired up.
If they got that far let them get on with journey.

Hey Buck,

The river is a piss trickel and the bump in water was a temp thing as the glaciers burped for the day due to excessive heat. River is back down to the lowest level I have ever seen. Pinks are actively spawning in the river as well. The ethics observed on the lower river would make you pine for the "good ole days of the Fraser sockeye fishery at Peg Leg bar". You would have to see it to beleive it. With most of the salmon rivers closed in other places, it seems that many of the low end losers are up here. The CO's have given up on writting tickets for foul hooked fish they are now just going after people who go over their limits. Some of the more memorable charges have been for 21 pinks in a car and 13 pinks and a chinook ( which are closed). It seems to be meat at what ever cost.
Should have closed a while ago in my opionion.

This is kind of funny. :) On Aug 18 you posted that you had gone out 10 times in 6 days and not landed a pink.

72 hours later you post pictures of 17 dead fish.

Looks like you figured it out pretty quickly!

So long Mamquam, and thanks for all the fish!

That could be different pictures of the same 4 fish.

Or borrowed picks.
None the less, kitchen counter top pictures are bragging pictures for those that forget to take a camera when they go out.
Some pictures aren't worth the the thousand words expected....
