That's a sexy looking fly. What's the name of it? Could you PM me the recipe. Thanks

Here prairie...
It's my own creation, originated as a flash fly for coho then upgraded to a clouser style for springs and now everything else it seems.
I call it the SC Needle, everything you need is on page 35 of this thread.

On both Saturday and Sunday I hiked around a found a really nice run all to myself.  In fact I could not see any other rods but the parking lots were all completely full.  I proceeded to land Spring after Spring and a few Chums as well.  No Coho but it was great having a stretch of river all to myself.  Caught some nice bright Springs.

Crappy cell phone camera and low light conditions do these fish no justice!  My good camera now lies at the bottom of the sea!!!

Nice fish Spiznack!

I am hoping for the same this Friday.

Definitely a bit of hiking to escape the crowds is worth it!  What were you using?

I was drifting dog roe for the most part.  I did catch some chums on purple jigs in the afternoon though.  Saturday I landed over 10 Springs and 5 Chums.  Sunday only like 5 Springs and 1 Chum.  It is funny how people go to the river and look for the piece of water closest to their car and start fishing.  Those same people can often be seen on these sites complaining about the crowds.  There is tons of good fishable water on the V if you move around a bit.  I think that secretly or sub-consciously some of these guys actually enjoy fishing in a huge crowd!   ;)

I totally agree. When we were out last weekend we didnt see the long liners, bottom bouncers, rippers etc. We dont fish places like KWB, Tamahi or the limit hole. Stay away from the masses and you can enjoy your day.

Second one was a coho for sure.  The steelhead I've caught have had entirely white mouths.

I caught (and released) this wild Steelhead late August.
