Fraser Chinook Report June 25th, 2007
« on: June 26, 2007, 04:08:46 PM »

Little late on the report, but here it is. Fished Monday, June 25. Float fished the creek mouths above and below Hope and bar fished the mouth of the Cocahalla for most of the day. No fish using these techniques. Then switched to bottom bouncing and hooked my first chinook of the year on my 5th cast....Go figure. My dad hadn't even got his line in the water. 18 lber....Bonk.... We ended up hooking another chinook about 10 casts later. 25 lber.....Bonk... 20 foot leader was the magic ticket. What a waste of time trying to get them to bite eggs. I even had fresh sand shrimp to go with the eggs??? Go get em as there are lots in the river.

Please stop bottom bouncing...

You're going to have the river closed to all fishing if you keep it up...

Nice fish though.

Thanks for the correction, I guess now the DFO notice is official... The other one was more of a concept...

Cheers,

 >:(  I agree, no need to bounce springs!  they are very aggresive!  Save it for socks......... if you want an opening!    ::)

in 15 years of selective fishing the fraser i have caught two socks bar fishing!  not trying to start an argument here , but the amout of socks that will take a glo is nada! I have caught a ton of steelies bar fishing the fraser and 2 socks.  Put the numbers of socks that come through the fraser compared to steel, Its uncomparable!

Ditto with my history of barfishing too... 2 socks... And everyone crowded around, in disbelief... It's really rare.

Be prepared to be correcting alot of anglers out there... Or else we'll all lose spring season... It sounds like there are quite a few springs in the river from all the reports I've been hearing (not internet).

Protect your opening, I was part of a protest along with chris gadsden back in 1986 to fight for the right to keep these fish... BCTV came out, and so did DFO... It was a big deal back then, and we as anglers have so many rights now...

Lets all be smart out there, and be sure to not screw up what has been worked for so hard...

Cheers,
Nicole

Sweet fish Brad.

your right it's a sad story there, but all i can do is my part when i see people improperly fishing or doing anything else that is considered " unsportsmanlike "!  I hope that others will have the guts to approach, inform others of there stupiditys / iggnorance! i will also say i had a bit of both in me up until about for years ago! so !!!!
