Kokanee fishing March 17th, 2007
« on: March 17, 2007, 08:16:30 PM »

I got to the kokanee lake a little lake today - a few familiar faces finning and floating around. Report was that the fishing was pretty good but not as good as the other day. I duplicated the fly the FFreak was using the other day and lots of fish hitting for me but they weren't staying on to well. I made my way into a corner of the lake and the Coho action was nuts. By then I had a few kokanee released and at 3:30 all hell broke loose. The fish were hammering very aggressively. For half an hour there was no way thay I could get the second rod out. Nuts man.

Action stayed hot for me in that corner until 5:00pm. I took two kokanuts that were 14" and two others that were about 12". I had three hits so hard that my 6wt. folded over. One snapped my 5lb. tippet.

So much fun fighting those fish on my 3wt. By the end of my day I was easily into 40 fish. Sorry no pictures. Too wet for pictures today.

Maybe heading out there again tomorrow - maybe on Monday.

I was into a ton today myself. I had tried a few techniques and found one that was out producing most on the lake. I got a few pics from today.

Did dave hook one of his fins in the one picture or was that his fish?  :D

I notice the Fraser had a bunch of debris flowing down when I was coming in. Carefull out there tomorrow. Waters going up.

Ya sure looks like he did didn't he LOL

I drove past where we will be fishing tomorrow and its not too bad but not too good either. I just want to get the boat out so we will be taking it slow and easy. Guess I am going to have to get you out soon so you can reminisce in your old boat LOL. Wait until I get the side panels, paint job and kicker so you can see how she looks.

Actually, I feel fine right now,  just a bit tired!!   ;)  I tried stripping a lot of them in, but I felt more comfortable and landed more fish doing a combination of the 2!! ;D

Kawkawa Lake in Hope. We had similar fishing result last week too, but it should taper off in a couple of weeks from now as most of the fish start to move deeper. The Allouette Lake will also have a similar fishery in a few weeks from now.

Just so everyone knows, Alouette's dock wont be in untill May.
