« on: August 22, 2006, 10:33:36 PM »

On the sockeye conference call tonight there will be another week of recreational sockeye activity.

Next Tuesday will most likely determine the closing date.

Chris, do you mean it will close by next Tuesday, or you mean they will decide on next Tuesday when they will close it? Who are these folks telling you the news on the conference call? DFO officials?

Well if that's the case the earliest close would be either thursday or friday next week.

Next conference call between recreational anglers rep's and FOC is on the 29th that will most likely announce the closing date that I believe will be the 5th. Will try to keep you updated.

And then we'll all be able to get a break from all the fun and games until a month before the NEXT opening  ::)

I got a coho bar fishing a few years ago above the Vedder (proper name Sumas River at that point) confluence with the Fraser on August 30. She will be closing for sockeye no later than September the 5th when school checks in and the flow can get somewhat back to normal again. ;D ;D

It will be time also to get out and cleanup the miles of line and garbage left by the sockeye crowd. :( :-[ I wonder how many will be going to the bars they fished to do so?

I will be out filling the boat with line, as we did last year, I think I am still sorting through the mess to see what is re-usable!
