Latest info today says Sept.5. Will confirm Tuesday night if possible.

i was sure that the board would decide to close the sox on the 5th but hub sports is telling me it will likely be the 10th. anybody else hear of this projection cause it is certainly news to me...

It will be, as the endagered Thompson River Coho will be entering the Fraser River very soon.

Remember there is a % that they can catch of the Coho.
Further if they are as all the other runs this year, late they may extend the closure.

More like there are many MILLIONS more coming. Out of the total run size this year not even 1/4 have made it through the river yet.

There is a notice for the Fraser in region 3 stating sockeye is open until the 10th.

RECREATIONAL - Salmon

Subject:    FN0662-Recreational Salmon: Sockeye & Chinook - Region 3 - Fraser River - Opportunity

Open to Sockeye and Chinook August 13 to September 10 from 05:00 hrs to 21:00
hrs daily. In the waters of the Fraser River from the confluence of Fraser /
Seton Rivers downstream to the fishing boundary signs located on both sides of
the river approximately 4km downstream of the town of Lillooet:

Combined daily limit 4 salmon
2 sockeye per day
4 chinook per day only 1 over 50cm fork length.

Variation Order No. 2006-385

Sport anglers are reminded to participate in the voluntary Salmon Sport Head
Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped
Chinook Salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags from adipose fin-clipped chinook
salmon provides critical information for coast wide stock assessment. For
program information and head depot locations contact the voluntary Salmon Sport
Head Recovery Program at 1-866-483-9994 or www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish.

Berrys says it will be open to the 10th also. Checked the fraser panel report from the24th and it looks good. Was at peg Fri to Mon and fish are starting to come thru in decent numbers now.

They have been coming through in decent numbers for a few weeks by what I have seen and read!  Hope it stays that way! For at least a couple more days.  What about commercial openings??

Opening today so I hear... Hopefully not too much of a dent in their progress, but it would be nice to see the Commercial guys get a better price for what they catch.
