Trout Lake (vancouver) & Lower Fraser in richmond.
« on: April 04, 2006, 09:29:33 PM »

got my licences renewed today and head for my first fishing outings for this 06/07 season!
went to the trout lake for the first time ever, although it's the closest lake to home. :)    knowing the lake would be stoked today, i was looking forward to some sweet trout fishing.... got there by 5pm, picked a spot and started fishing. the water was dirty, the visibility was only about few inches. lots of birds and ducks.  fished with dew worms and single eggs for half an hour but to no avail. no bite no noffin'! moved to the other side of the lake, darn, that was even worse, lots of weeds and debris, got snagged a few times and had enough of it , packed it up and ready to head to richmond. i don't think i would return to this lake for fishing. at least not in the short future. no fun there, probably more dogs than fish around. funny thing was, i went there for fishing, and i almost caught a duck (her legs got tangled with the line when she dived to the water).   :-\
arrived at london landing in richmond at 6:30pm, i was just surprised to see how low the tide was, probably the lowest i've ever seen there.  few people were fishing at the floating dock, they caught nothing and i was told that there was no bite at all. fishing was slow. went to the dock down at No. 3 rd. fished there for another hour, and still got no bite at all! darn the fishing was really slow eh! wrong tide and wrong time of the year i guess. 0-1

Don't shoot the messenger now. ;D

If you showed up at London's Landing 30 minutes earlier, we would have bumped into each other as I was down there getting some photos that I needed (with a line dipped in the water of course :) ).

The tide was indeed low, but not the lowest it has been in the past. :o The lowest ones are about 2 to 3 feet lower than what you saw this evening. I like it that low during certain time of the year, as the fish are trapped in that channel and the fishing can be surprisingly good. What surprised me was how brown the water has gotten since I last visited the river. I guess freshet has started and spinning for bull trout is out of the question for now. :(

I was at trout lake as well last night, since it was so  sunny I decided to give it a try after work. Was using powerbait fished off bottom, only had two bites and I missed them both.

I was at the No.3 Rd Fishing Pier on Sunday with low tide and caught a small starry flounder and four bullhead (sculpin) between 1:30-3:30.  I used a pencil sinker rig with a piece of dew worm.  No other anglers were there while I was fishing, but a cormorant told me that fish were there because he was catching a flounder and managing to engulf it.    :)

Hey Sinaran - how did you know that the lake was going to be stocked?  I often check Fish Wizard to see stocking information - and none of the lakes in the lower mainland appear to have been stocked this year (or they haven't updated the stocking reports yet).  I'm thinking about giving the trout rods a warm-up before the interior trout fishing gets going!  I also enjoy tying those trout flies - although my trout fly boxes are getting a bit too full!  Need another box - but where would I put the darn thing...

FM, connections. ;)

For updated trout stocking information in Region 2, please go to:

For Region 1 (Vancouver Island), please go to:

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and this website have established an agreement last year that updated stocking information in 2006 is broadcasted here to keep our readers informed on which lakes can be good.
