Does anyone remember how long the run lasted in 09?  I seem to recall about 4 weeks?  Just curious.

my observation is that I like to fish at the start of the income tide till it crest's ! last Sun the fish were close to shore and the spot we anchored in , was the traveling lane for the fish ! most of all my hook ups happened right next to the boat ! we anchored there cause that is were everyone else anchored ! everyone around us was casting out towards the middle of river not catching ! I was casting to the back of boat and the front ! oh yah.... retrieve was real slow !

My last fish caught was September 16th. I guess they are still coming in but kinda getting less after that.

Go for them.  They are awesome and fairly priced.  Last season I caught many many pinks with them in tidal areas.

I was at Dyke road near No. 5 this morning for a pre-work fish.  Beautiful morning out there with plenty of fish rolling just at the edge of casting range.  I didn't get anything, but the guy just up from me landed a nice female pink.

It seems like maybe more fish are starting to enter the system.

Checked out Frasershore Park in Burnaby just now.  No fish moving through for the 10 minutes that I was there.

why is it everyone thinks that high tide is the best ?

I can see why this would be down in Richmond near the mouth of the river but once the fish pass there they have committed to going upstream. tide means nothing then

I actually find the downward, slack and for a bit of upgoing tide the best around the Golden Ears bridge areas. I notice that once the tide has reached half of its up and higher that the fish push way out into the middle of the river because the current isn't nearly as strong against them as it is during low tide which pushes them close to shore

my observations over the past several cycles of pinks
That's exactly what I observed yesterday at Duncan Bar  . Even though I arrived just before low slack , the Pinks were close to shore like a couple feet from shore and as the tide started to rise they pushed out a hundred feet . One thing I couldn't quite understand .Why would these guy's walk in the river up to there waist ,the Pinks are swimming right under there feet  ???
But I guess that would be another topic oops .

That was the biggest problem at the Squamish. Everyone wading out to exactly where the fish are traveling. Could be standing on the beach catching more

Fished at Brownsville Bar from 3 - 7pm on Tuesday. Lost 1 fish and landed 1 just before high tide.
Fishing is still quite slow, but slow retrieve seems to work well.

Fishing will continue to be slow, for as long as they keep commercial open. I heard the quota is 6 million pinks for commercial!

Wow, 6 million for commercial? It will probably cheaper to buy them than spend $$$ on gas and lure with little to show so far.  ;D

I  thought commercial opening was for 3.9 million, and ends on Friday?

Took a lunch break to fish Derby Reach. Nada as usual. Saw some fish splashing in the shallow but they just wouldn't touch anything. Saw some spey rods which should be better for slower and shallower water but even them nothing. May be the young pinks were 'nuked' by radioactive leakage to the Pacific Ocean by the Japanese tsunami so that they are now less aggressive to bite than fish in prior years. LOL.  ;D
