Seven months, two weeks and one day until me outfish FA at No. 3 Road pier for pinks..... ;)

Are you still bitter over that day two years ago when I outfished you, Steelhead King and the rest of your friends ?  :D

I wasn't even fishing that day, I sat there and watched you people play around... was too tired after pulling in so many on previous days.... ;) But, not too sure about Steelhead King though, he often talks about it with deep sighs. ;D

Oops, topic drifted, sorry. :)

How about them Islander Steelheader eh? ;)

Yeah, back to the Islander Steelheader I'm thinking of selling mine and buy a Milner. I'm not particularly enamoued with the large arbor reels

The only thing I don't like about the centerpins is the 1:1 ratio. You can cover more water using the baitcaster

assuming the diameter of the spool of line on the levelwind reel is 1.25", and assuming the diameter of the spool of line on the centerpin reel is 4"
for every turn of the spool on the levelwind you retrieve 3.93"
for every turn of the spool on the centerpin you retrieve 12.57"
so the 1:1 ratio on the centerpin is faster to retrieve than the levelwind with a 1:3 ratio

Good one. You must have an engineering background and I would never thought of it that way. ;D ;D

Thats probably why most levelwinds are at a 5 or 6 to 1 ratio.

You guys are making this topic too complicated. Keep it simple. Those who use centerpins are simply martyrs who like to get their knuckles rapped.  ;D

I just recently got a center pin. I really like it and find the fight much more fun. The casting isn't as hard as i thought it would be and the drift is way better. My sucess has also improved. ;) So far this stealhead season i am 2 for 2 will the new setup.

Centerpins are not used for barfishing as they have no drag. The mooching type ones are what people use.

Mooching reels are what CG uses for barfishing. I would think centerpin reels are too nice for that... ;)
