If you have been fishing the Chilliwack/Vedder River lately, take a walk down to Peach Creek, Hooges Wetland and Brown Creek, because you'd see hundreds of chum salmon spawning peacefully at the moment. This is only possible due to the hard work by Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition, and support from anglers like YOU in the past ten years. Our annual tradition during the winter steelhead season is coming up. Wally Hall Junior Memorial Steelhead Derby is set to start on December 1st. Derby tickets ($20 each) can now be purchased at Fred's Custom Tackle and their website. 100% of the derby proceeds are donated to fund habitat restoration projects like we have seen in the lower river, so adult salmon can spawn while juvenile salmon can rear in peace.
