Salmon thieves on the Vedder?
« on: September 22, 2022, 07:28:35 AM »

Caught this video of a fisherman talking about how his salmon got stolen while he was fishing. I've heard of gear being stolen but never fish. A new era?

All it takes is for the nervous system to push out one last flip and it's down the rocks, in the water, and gone. Can't tell you how many times I've seen guys fish lost this way.
If this guy was downstream or something, he might not have even seen it happen.

This is true.
Once, long ago, I cleaned a fish, guts out, gills out, laid it on a rock and it jumped and swam away.

I've heard this happen already a few times this year. To most of us, fishing is a hobby and the meat is a bonus but to some it's all about the meat.

The thief won't waste the meat for sure. Not too bad LOL

I’m fishing in the East Kootenays this week while my son and his two buddies hunt elk.

Yesterday they rode their bikes up a motorized restricted road, left their bikes and continued the rest of the way on foot. Later in the day, when they hiked back to their bikes, two of the three bikes were missing.

Total d!ck move by someone. In the backcountry you hope to count the integrity of like-minded individuals. Not the case.

I've thought of doing something like this and then locking them up to a thick tree.  But I'd still be paranoid.

Yeah, it sucked for the guys. They are real mountain men and put a lot of effort into getting where others don’t. My son’s bike was hidden better in the trees; it was his buddies’ bikes that were stolen. The kicker is that my son and I leave on Saturday and his buddies are staying on for another week. The loss of the bikes will affect their hunt.

No. He’s clarki hunter. I’m clarki catcher😀
