Was out yesterday and there was a short first light bite, then extremely tough after that. Low and clear, as others have said. With some upcoming rain it should be a different story over the next few days. Going to take a break then work it hard after next weekend.
Am I missing something in the canal??? Every time I pass over the KWB/1 I see what looks like pilings stacked close together. Couldn't believe it today when I passed over, looked like sockeye season out there
Just for interests sake you should head down one day there just observe, you'll see why. The anglers are clustered around the choke points where the fish gather and hang out.
Considering how long it is, most of the canal is actually not very fishable, but where it turns into something fish will hold in, you'll see the anglers jam in there tighter than the fish. Mostly when the water runs against one bank or the other, and has a deeper slot or run. Between one 'holding pool' and the next, there are often long shallow stretches where the fish probably aren't keen to navigate during the day, so once it's bright out, they are more or less stuck.
It would actually be a really good place to fish if it wasnt for all the people. I havent seen very many arguments on the Vedder, but when I do it's almost always in the canal, particularly directly under KWB. No fish is worth that stress when there are many other productive spots.
