World's River Day 2015 Report And More
« on: November 30, 2015, 11:40:53 AM »

Dear river advocates,

Thanks to the millions of participants spanning 6 continents for their contribution to World Rivers Day.  Your efforts are so important to our waterways, the fish and wildlife they sustain and the communities that depend upon them.  Also, as an update, Canada’s largest newspaper, The Globe and Mail, has started a week-long series on the state of our rivers and the many challenges confronting them, which comprise perhaps our most pressing environmental challenge.  This first segment interviews long-time Britannia Creek advocate and World Rivers Day Chair, Mark Angelo, as well as retired Fisheries and Oceans scientist Otto Langer, among others.  Much of the series also focuses on what the new federal government in Canada can do to turn things around.  Many of the topics and issues dealt with in the series will have some application to other countries as well.  Links to remaining segments can be found in the attached link.  The series is written by The Globe and Mail’s renowned journalist, Mark Hume.

With best wishes till next year,
