Chilliwack River, February 2nd 2013
« on: February 02, 2013, 08:07:18 PM »

Made it out late morning. But have missed some nice action in the lower stretch. Must be the high coloured water brought in some fish. Heard quite a few fish hooked early. Found a nice run all to myself. Soon hooked into a fish but I wasn't too ready to set the hook. Tried to double hook set and the line broke. Felt a heavy fish. Worked down the run and hooked into another smaller fish. Nevertheless it put up a good fight but came in anyway. The adipose fin is obviously half clipped. Thinking that I had 2 fish within half an hour, I wanted to keep fishing. So I released the hatchery fish. But the rest of the day was pretty quiet. Saw another guy had a large fish broke off near shore. All in all a good day to break in the season. What a nice day. Water is excellent with a greenish tint but not totally clear, at least 3 to 4 ft visibility. Fish are not shy to bite today with that nice water. Should be a good day tomorrow. Go get them boys. Tight line.
