can u eat them? how do u perpare them? i heard that u have to dry it first but then i brought 1 home today and it poop'ed out its internals. is in the sink i dont know how to deal with it.

I had them in restaurants, and they are delicious!

I caught one today at ambleside park and man was it cool looking  I had never seen one before catching this one.  But when I cut it open in the sink, it exploded in a swarm of worms of some kind; really grossed me out so I tossed it

they are one of the most common things to see on a dive...and when you see them, they are eating fish feces.....YUMMY

you actually only eat two small muscle strips inside the creature...not the entire creature...and since the muscles are small...I would leave the whole thing alone myself....never big on bottom feeders.

I have had it at chinese banquets and the muscle is considered the delicacy portion.  The chinese also eat the other body section (no intestine parts that I know of).  Tastes okay but kind of bland. Not really worth eating unless you just want to be adventurous and like to have Fear Factor like bragging rights.

In the Douglas Channel, the natives collect them and send the skins to Japan as they are used for medicinal purposes. There are only small strips of flesh on the inside of the sea cucumber that can be eaten...but they are so small that you won't even find it worth the effort of dealing with the mess they create.
