Tidal Fraser River, October 11th 2012
« on: October 11, 2012, 11:18:37 PM »

I decided to stop by the river this afternoon from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, catching the peak of the tide halfway through the outing. Water clarity has deteriorated since the weekend. Visibility has gone from 3 feet to less than 1 foot. I thought it would get better as the tide peaked but it only improved slightly. The condition was still reasonable for spincasting. I only brought my lures today, so was stuck to them for the entire afternoon. There was a good push of coho jacks around 4:00pm. I managed to bring in one on the tiny green spinner, while bait fishermen were able to have bites consistently. One angler was able to hook up with 5 or 6 fish. There were perhaps another 5 caught among other anglers. Chum salmon started to appear as the tide peaked but were fewer than what we saw on the weekend.

Rod, do you suspect that due to lower clarity, the decent spoon and spinner fishing for coho is over in lower Fraser?  :(Thanks.
