Headed up to Lillooet this weekend to target Sturgeon (for the first time). My relatively new fishing buddy wanted to go, and I am keen to try this area out. Just wondering if there are other opportunities in that area that I might try as well. I will be bringing my 6 wt fly rod, but will be limited to shore fishing. If an opportunity presents itself, we may split a boat rental as well.

Thanks in advance for any ideas, as i have never been up that way.

No one should be anchoring in the Fraser right now...period.

Check the regs first
But if it's open the Fraser just downstream of the Seton Confluence can be pretty good, as well as the Seton itself.
Also try Seton Lake at the Cayoose tunnel outflow.
Then there is the Bridge River upstream of the Yalakom, but again check the regs or better yet just phone the local Conservation Officer Service and ask.

The upper Bridge is a gorgeous river; never had the time to fish while working in the area but it just looks fishy.  Also Portage Creek (if it's not too high) between Seton and Anderson Lakes would be a good bet as that is  fishy

The stream between Anderson and Seton is called Portage in some circles, but the Province for whatever reason call it the Seton. The sign at the Bridge in Seton Portage calls it the Seton. Depending on how you read the regs it may or may not be exempt from the Spring Closure. I have fished it a few times before July 1 and once had rocks thrown at me and was told it was closed until July 1. Phoned the CO's and was told it was open..however, it's a bit of a lawless land. Seriously beware of a lot of really drunk people, and don't be by yourself. It could be a great little place, but unfortunately it's right F$#ked up. Maybe it's improved, as the last time I was there was 6 years ago. The drive from Darcy is amazing

Thanks for that clarification A.  Definitely a lawless land    Last time I was there, sampling chinooks, I walked thru a well maintained pot plantation.  Just kept walking .... had my Malamute Sacha with me so maybe that's why I wasn't harassed

I can now see the crowds of people flocking to Seton Portage in the Late Summer Early Fall!

The Bridge river above the confluence of the Yalakom is closed to fishing year round. Again check the regs. All of region 3 rivers and creeks are closed to fishing until July 1st unless otherwise noted in the regs. Enjoy, it is God's country.
