line for deep pools
« on: September 17, 2010, 05:06:42 PM »

I am wondering what a good line would be for deep pools in rather slow moving water while targeting mostly coho.  I was thinking of a full intermediate sink like Cortland 444 or the SA version.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have the Cortland clear camo line and find it works well on my lighter rods.
I would not hesitate to go with this line.

One line which has been recommended by a few and I intend to get this year is the Rio Aqualux.
It is a clear intermediate line and I hear the slick coating helps it to cast very nicely.

Last year, I did very well by taking my 8 weight floating line and cutting off about 12 feet, or the shooting head off the floating line.
From here, i then added about a 15 foot section of Rio 8 weight clear tip.
I put loop connectors on the various pieces.
I have also used the black T14 on this line, but find it very heavy and do not like it to cast.
It does sink really fast, though!!!
