Hey,

  Anyone know if most of the lakes in this area have iced off and turned by May Long Weekend ?

Yes they will have all been iced off for a few weeks by that time depending on elevation.

Thanks. I was told that most wouldnt and wanted to confirm cuz we would look pretty dumb trying to launch float tubes on iced up lakes......

If you want to be extra safe you cold tell me what lakes you were planning on hitting (via forum or email). I've fished a good number of the lakes in that area at that time of year and I could give you a little info.

Depending on elevation but most will have ice off.

We are doing the stretch in between Little Fort and the Hwy Junction south of 100 mile House. We will primarily stick to the lower elevation lakes but might venture up higher if weather permits. Any suggestions on what lakes to avoid ( lower elevation ) to save our trial and error. I heard the bays and inflows in the larger lakes can be productive , Sheridan, Roche etc. If you can recommend any rivers and creeks along the way that would be great !

Don't quote me on this but I'm fairly certain that the rivers in that area will be under a spring closure.

As for lakes along #24 I would recommend trying Irish, French, Valentine and Sheridan. The first three are all good choices for float tubes. Sheridan is a large lake so I might be a little hesitant to bring my tube out onto it (not because its dangerous but unless you've been there before in a larger boat you'll end up doing a lot of kicking).

I don't know who told you to hit the creek inlets and outlets but that is the EXACT area that you should be avoiding on these lakes at this time of year. Unless of course you like to catch gumboot spawners. Most of the fishing will predominantly chronimid fishing as most lakes in the area don't offer a fry hatch.

Fawn and Irish are good lakes for tubes.
Sheridan is large like Biff says and unless you know where the fish are and drive to a point nearby to launch you could be in for a long day.
