Replacement rod/reel
« on: June 05, 2021, 11:09:18 AM »

To protect the innocent, names have been changed in this story.

While fishing with my partner, "Eileen" out on the boat, one of our two identical fly rods was "placed in the new rod holder" albeit incorrectly.   Shortly afterwards, we only had ONE flyrod left in the boat and another one about 25 feet down on the bottom of clear, beautiful Hicks lake  ::)  (Yes, you COULD see it down there...)

Those that know me - know I like to determine if things that aren't supposed to float will, but I can assure you, it wasn't MY doing, this time.

So, that means I'm hoping to find a way to replace the following in such a way to remain interchangeable with my remaining rod/reel (more specifically the cartridge reel system of the Kamloops reel)...

Looking to replace: Dragonfly DFW95 with a Dragonfly Kamloops 56 reel.

I think I MIGHT be S.O.L. from what I can see.  I really liked the ability to have different lines on cartridges to just pop into the reel and would like to be able to continue but don't know if there's a current model that is compatible...  Does anyone know?

Thanks!

is this the same model?

It looks quite different - although I guess it might be compatible.... That gives me something to dig into.  None of the lower mainland shops seemed to carry even that model....

I went down to M&Y in Vancouver.  They got us set up with a 10ft 5wt Echo Boost rod and a couple of Echo 4/5 reels.  We’re back in business!

Glad to hear it... The rod really had a nice feel to it and the reel seemed solid enough... :)
