now i got a little confused after reading some US sportfishing sites, they are mentioning about landlocked coho, which i haven't heard about here in B.C. . i know sockeye has its landlocked type called the Kokanee, but coho...?  are they actually the same thing just that the yankees think they r landlocked coho instead of sockeye....?

AFAIK there is only hatchery trout and coarse fish in Rice. It's too darn small for anything else.

a park ranger once told me they relased coho at rice lake and they also have a sign saying there are rainbows and coho in the lake

Yes. not only landlocked coho. There has been records of landlocked coho, king and sockeye.

Cultas has landlocked coho and there are rumors floating around that there are landlocked pinks in Stave lake.

(boozi) was at cultus lake and he said a guy caught about a 7lb cohokannee he called it or something a coho and kokanee mixed?

 There are coho in Rice lake, hence the signs asking that any that are caught are released, I have seen one caught there.

Cultus is not landlocked.

Niether are a lot of other lakes that have kokanee, they're still called landlocked sockeye........

sent in a reply to this item yesterday but the internet gods must have eaten it ,. YES there are landlocked coho , also Pinks and Chinooks ( wish there were sock as well ) . They are all found in the great lakes , the first plantings were by some of the states and after much pressure from fishermen Ontario started stocking them as well ( that is coho and chinook ) and there are significant populations in all the great lakes with some real good runs in some of the rivers .They don't get as large as those in BC but 25 to 40 plus pounders are available. The pinks are a different thing as the stocking wsa accidental . The Ontario M.N.R. obtained some pink eggs with plans to establish a population in James Bay  however the hatchery truck taking them to the aircraft had problems so the driver released the smolts into a stream running into Lake Superior and loand behold they took hold and there have been a self sustaining population in Lake Superior , Lake Huron and I beleive Lake Michigan for many years . The most unusual thing is that to establish an exotic population with only one accidental stocking is almost unheard of .
