Whats your favorite drift rod ?
« on: September 21, 2005, 01:01:33 PM »

Just curious to see what everyones rod preferences are for driftfishing for coho and steelhead are, personally My favorite is the sage 2106,its very sensitive light weight and has enough backbone when needed.

You don't need a brand name like Sage to have a good drift rod. Personally I think the Sage drift rods are overrated for the price. I have tried them and for allot less money you can get something comparable. I have a Trophy and I love it. Didn't have to spend as much money either.

If I had to fish only one rod on the vedder it would be my Sage 3113mb.  Its light enuff to be a blast for coho and steelhead and has enuff back bone to tame 40lb whites.

I bought my bait cast version for $150 as a blank and my centre pin for $300 including an avon.  So while $450 off the rack at berrys is a ton, there are lots of good deals out there that can make a sage very affordable.

How much did the Sage cost you once you built it?

Stryker IST 1263F, basically the same as a 2106. :) The one I have right now has these light titanium carbide plated stainless steel guides with funky blue zirconia rings. :D

no ed you dont need a brand name like sage to have a good drift rod, but i believe the question i asked was what is your favorite drift rod , mine being the sage 2106,i have fished with many other rods and this is the one i choose regardless of price.
