I'm not the man to ask.  But basically, if you can fish, DFO does not specify HOW you fish.  As long as it falls within the definintion of angling.

(And no....lets not wade into THAT debate again  >:( )

DFO has requested that people do not floss the fraser.  The exact verbage they use is they "request we use selective fishing methods"...which bottom bouncing is not.

That frase was used when they announced a pink opeing...so they dont want people flossing pinks either.

There have been people flossing ALL SUMMER LONG regardless of the fact that the socs are closed and there were concervation concerns.

Has anyone ever thought that if we had more respect for DFO's "request", we may have sat in a differnet light over the past 2 weeks when they decide not to give us an opening?

If you can get across to it. Lets not forget the tragety that from earlyier this year.

On a side note, I've heard rumors that people there have been keeping sockeye as of late. Thats the exact sort of protest we need :P Some nut jobs using this as an excuse to bring home some meat. For a protest to be successful, the culled fish need to be confiscated and charges laid. So everyone in favour of a protest involving keeping fish shouldn't count on bringing them home.

A protest is held to make a point.  If you don't advertise it and use it as a conduit to voice your position, then I can't think you would call it a protest.

In my books, there is no such thing as an unoffical protest.  If people didnt call the media and DFO then they chose to poach fish and soothed their guilty consciences by calling it a protest.


Thats BS.  Hope no one here was involved.
