Is my rod good enough for sockeye fishing?

Hi all,

I know sockeye fishing is over for this year. I am prepare for the next time.
I have a rod: 10ft, med power, med-fast action, line weight 15-30Lb, lure weight 3/8 - 1 3/8.
Can I use it the cast 3 ounce sinker?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yes it's pretty good. As long as you load the weight properly while you cast you'll be fine. On most rods you can easily cast much heavier weights than it says as long as you're careful.

sounds perfect. Line and weight recommendations are general guides. Line is for mono. For flossing the Fraser you should use braid of a about 65lbs. When I did that stuff I used a couple of rods with similar ratings and had no issues even with springs
