Fish bags?
« on: October 22, 2020, 11:25:14 PM »

I'm interested in using fish bags, if they even exist. Rectangular bags, closed at one end, that I can slip a fish into to carry it out in the back of my vest and then to store in the freezer until I do my smoking in late fall/early winter.

My proposed specs:

About 30 inches long, 6-8 inches deep.

Approx 10 mils guage so that it doesn't tear easily and can  be washed and re-used.

Bonus if the plastic is food grade.

Does anything like this exist that you use?

I bought some years ago and i think they may have said TrophyXL on them but could be mistaken.
Pretty sure i got them out of the old Gone Fishn store in Maple Ridge.
Not much help other than to let you  know they did exist at one time.

Was just at Hatchmatchr last weekend and they had the Trophy XL bags on the sales counter. Should be exactly what you are looking for.

Thanks both. I did a search and I see that Trophy Xl fish bags were talked about a number of years ago. http://www.fishingwithrod.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=25146.msg236958#msg236958

Looks like what I am after.

They're thick plastic and good quality. Should hold up to washing and reusing :)

Or you can use the bag in which they sell those cheap folding camping chairs. Sturdy, easily washable, comfortable to carry, with carrying capacity for your whole daily limit of salmon.
