Maple Leaf floats tomorrow from 9 AM  to noon on Chilliwack Lake road just before On the Way store. I have so many, guaranteed not to leak FA.lol

Fished the lower and the upper yesterday
Visibility was okay
Couple of guys beside hooked into a chum or 2 but they were all spawning in the channel behind and coloured up .
The upper was better as mentioned , a couple of fish surfaced in the main flow to take a 'look' at me .
Thats what they always seem to do . But pretty sure they were coho .
No bites though :-(
The bonus was a family of Eagles and their youngsters learning to fly and feeding on the fish across the river .
Sun was out and rain held off .
Still fishing for me and not catching ..
But still a good day out on the river ...

Water looked surprisingly good this AM when I looked an hour ago. Even after the rain, wind and hail, cold up top. I only had time to fish for 15 minutes missed a few and lost one.

Nice, I fished for an hour this AM, water conditions good, tried jigs like Nick had in the video I filmed few days ago. First time I had used them this year , broke off one. lost another then harvest one then called it a day. All fresh run chum.

Not sure but I took Nick's advice in the video I just filmed to put on 15 pound to replace the 10 I usually use with 8 pound Maxima I will stick with. The story on the break off is, no bites on roe so for the first time this year I put on a jig, like Nick had in the video.

When I picked it out of my tackle bucket, yes a bucket as I find it is good to sit on if my old legs get tired yes I know it looks a bit beakest but no matter. ::)

Anyway I see the jig has a leader on it and swivel  too, good just tie it on. First cast float down, yes we just let it free drift. A fresh run chum salmon doe breaks the surface just as another angler approaches, I no longer have said I have a fish on that the line goes slack, fish gone.

As I reel in it seems a bit light. Sure enough the jig is gone. On close inspection I see the jig had just come untied. I look at the line and wow it is not my usual Maxima leader.

Now I remember I had picked the jig up on the beach last year and someone must have not tied it on correctly or was it very old leader David? ;D ;D

I have a similar jig so on it goes, on my leader. A few casts and float down with another fresh run chum salmon doe on, small but bright do I harvest it.

Now I am sold on jigs for now, no messy roe for a bit.

The creel surveyor comes by, Tyson, we chat as I give him the information he requires, he has tabulated a number of chum and 1 coho salmon on his shift so far, it was around 11 when I packed up, satisfied with my 1 fish.

I had fished for about an hour after a morning duck hunt. That is a small Journal on Fishing with Rod to start your day.

Not sure how the river will be this AM after the heavy rain yesterday but is not raining now. I will go hunting first and may check the river after, with a jig tied on.

Oh Dave, you better get out there for old times sake, before the line rots on your reel.lol :P ;D ;D ;D

Water conditions in the Lower yesterday were fishable. Fresh run chum salmon continue to roll in, jigs are the ticket as I found out.

Not fishable at first light but coming around now, freezing level dropping.
