I have a 1989 15 HP Merc that needs a carburetor. Hoping someone has a carb laying around. Thanks for looking. Bill

You might have to visit a different type of website.  :-[

Not sure if this is helpful or not but I rebuilt the carb on my 92 Merc 15HP with parts from here:

Thank you sterling. The price for a new carb floored me. Hoping to find a used one. Cheers.

Try calling Haney Marine. Found parts there for a 15 hp Merc. I used to own, that I could not find at other places.

Give M&P, Bridgeview etc a call.  I bet they will have a used one laying around.

Also, maybe give it a thorough Seafoam treatment and see what happens.  That stuff can work miracles if there isn't something mechanically broken/worn out completely in the carb.

Thanks Damien, apparently used carbs for that motor are very hard to come by. New one is $540. Seafoam is magical stuff for sure, my issue is that I have no carb on that motor. The motor got stolen and then recovered but when I got it back the carb was missing. Thanks again for the reply.

Yeah, Seafoam has its limitations in that it tends to work well when there is a carb in the motor.  ;D

Sorry, trying to make light of the crappy situation.  Couple years ago som sh1trat stole a 20hp Merc off of my boat in the middle of the day, in my yard.  Breaking the transom to hell in the process.  Sucks so bad.

How did you find it?  When mine went missing I was on craigs, kijiji and hit the local pawn shops hoping it would turn up.  The motor had been in the family since new (almost 40 years).

I never thought the carb alone would be so valuable/hard to find.
