Thank you guys, I ended up finding some pretty nice ones at Berrys. Also... pro tip for anyone fishing herring out there. Try a red or pink flasher... me and the guy at Berrys had a chat... we think cause krill are a natural food source the red really catches their eye. Been catching lots more since that addition. Tight lines!

Absolute Cr@p fishing today. Not even a sniff. My Chinese friend couldn't even get a fish... I only made ten casts and gave up. Usually I wait for him to get something before I wet my line. He said in previous years it was not uncommon to get 30-40 fish a day. Maybe the stocks are collapsing again... doubt they could have gotten fished out in the channel. Could be?

Strait of Georgia - Areas 13, 14, 17, 18 and 29


Pursuant to Variation Order 2016-509, the 2016/2017 Food and Bait Herring Fishery in the Strait of Georgia will close to fishing at 23:59 hours February 12, 2017.


Prince Rupert - Area 3: Subareas 3-1 to 3-3 and 3-7 and portions of Subarea 3-4; Area 4; and Area 5: Subareas 5-1, 5-2, 5-3 and 5-10.


Pursuant to Variation Order 2016-508, the 2016/2017 Food and Bait Herring Fishery in the Prince Rupert area will close to fishing at 23:59 hours February 25, 2017.


These are end of season closures and are part of the 2016/2017 Integrated Fisheries Management Plan for Herring.
