German bearings for a reel that was made where? Like putting a 150hp motor on a 12ft punt!

Abec 7 bearings for an Abu 6500 are about $20 for the set of two.

I have exact the same reel and this is what i've done:
1.Take it apart and clean factory grease as much as you can (remember to remove any fibers from cleaning material if left on bearings)
2.Apply  a couple drops of  light reel oi ( I used Hot Sauce)
After this operation spinning time of my reel increased from 3 min to 5-6 min.
The only thing aside from fit I could complain about this reel is a weak clicker.

I can imagine one of the reasons he bought okuma instead of islander is the cost.

Exactly my point, better to buy a quality reel because by the time you have made all the upgrades to a cheaper reel, you will wish you had just bought a better reel in first place. I learned the hard way.

The only reason why asked this is because i recently bought one of a friend for extremely cheap but had a slow startup spin for a reason i couldnt answer.I dont  c-pin alot because i mainly fish spey.I didnt want to get another reel so i read about replacing the bearings.
Hope i cleared it up for some.

As others have said I'd take the bearings out and soak them in some lighter fluid. They're probably just over greased if your concern is slow startup, or the spindle could be bent but you would notice that right away.
People are so concerned with how many minutes their reel spins. As long as it pays out line without affecting your drift, that's all that matters in my mind.
