My fishing friend said he saw that many there this morning, Have just wrapped up a meeting with NDP leader John Horgan here in Hope as I took time off from my fishing trip to do so.
Going for a swim now and may go down there for a picture or two as it has been over 15 years since I have been down there when i used to----------.   :'( :-X :-[ ::) ??? I think it was the Scale Bar he was talking about.

No fish for me this morning but will be trying just before dark, saw a bear and they have been busy working on the Choke Cheeries knocking and climbing the trees, I think I will pack some insurance tonight if you know what I mean.

Don't people need to work? There is still a slot size limit and it is a pity to let a biggy go. Assuming 2 people per car, that is 100 rods there. Wow! More than Tamahi in coho season. LOL. Why the rush?

Probably a lot of the other spots are tricky to fish due to high water so everyone is forced there.

It is not bar rigs down the Scale Bar. It is all bouncing betties with a long long leader. ;D
So don't try to set up a bar rig among the bbers if you want to go home unscathed.  ;D ;D

Seriously, how high is the water there? Do you need a wader? How about any fishing report from any one who dares to report fishing result by bb on this forum?  ;D Are there even small springs under the slot size limit to retain?  ;)

Wasn't there a section in the regs last year or the year before that said bb is discouraged. Why isn't DFO down there "discouraging" it?

Did not make it down yesterday but plan today if the are not fining people for crossing the tracks. I have come up empty so far but good to see the Maple leaf Drennan going down even though only Northern Pikeminnows so far and stealing lots of bait.

Enjoying the camping so far and picking wild blackberries, Saskatoon's and blacks caps also picking up the odd tins as well. ;D

you always need waders at scale, most of the springs are less than 77cm  at this time, dfo wanted to open the closed area but Hope council said no, that would have freed up more room.

Carich980 you are correct that there was something about using selective methods but it looks flossing is moving full steam ahead and that other species than Sockeye are ok to "harvest" as well.
Many of us seen this coming long ago and it is only going to get worse.
There wont be and isn't room for those that actually want to ethically fish.
Im just glad I did get to experience fishing on the rivers before this debauchery ever got started.

Actually most of the fish i saw taken out where over 77 cms and for whatever reason most people forgot a tape measure;) many were released but Im pretty sure a DFO officer would do well handing out fines on the weekend.

kind of silly to open with a size limit. either open it or not at all.

I went last season so maybe they are bigger this year.the slot size is stupid unless all user groups have it.

Ya, consider this year's test fishery being so strong and that natives are catching thousands without size limit, the size limit on the sporties who catch only a small fraction of the total catch is really stupid and unfriendly to sporties. We pay the license to fish and get the least respect from DFO. Do they really think sporties can damage the stock by retaining the bigger fish? If they do, they should limit natives' nets. These are the real fish killing machines which can drastically affect fish stock.

What is wrong with you guys??
In the Canadian constitution:
1. conservation
2. natives
3. rec and commercial fishing

You are not in the same class as natives.
Protective measures for rec and commies have no bearing on what natives. If you don't like it lobby your MP to change the constitution, don't go on the internet and whine about it not being fair.

lol typhoon....

While the usual whiners prefer to participate in the annual online bickering and do nothing to improve the fishery, the bar fishing out there has been the best in years. The number of hook-ups on the spin-n-glow was unheard of, to me anyway. One colleague's group had 13 in 6 hours. That's 1 every 30 minutes or so. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to land a fish, which leaves only around 20 to 25 minutes of waiting time for each. Out of the 13 fish, 7 were landed, 5 were dispatched and 2 were released due to oversize.
