Some local wetland birds
« on: February 11, 2013, 03:22:49 PM »

I've had a chance to get out about 3 times in the past month, which is amazing when you consider it's almost NEVER dry here in the winter.  Here is a smattering of birds from those outings.

Great job!
You should talk to the BC Wildlife Federation guys that make the CORE manual and offer them these pictures.
They have black and white drawings of birds in it right now.
These pictures would sure be an awesome addition to the manual.

Thanks - I have a feeling that the Black and White is probably for COST purposes more than anything else.

Thanks LB.  Some days it's tough to get a good shot while other days they seem to fall into your lap :)

I've never seen a wood duck at a feeder before, had to snap this one.

Chickadee's my friend, er cloaca, for your viewing pleasure.

American Bittern, a highlight for the day.  Wish I had a bigger lens.

A mink, I think.  Only managed to snap this one shot before he snuck into the brush.

I personally like the Brown Creeper... those things are TOUGH to shoot.  Always zipping along and always, it seems, in the shadows.

Nice shots.

Yeah, this guy was about as cooperative as I have ever seen.  But never in the sun.

I barely noticed this guy until he bounced from tree to tree.  When still, they are very hard to find, luckily they like to scurry about.  Here is the Creeper, blending in.
