Bent Rods - Late Fall Fishing trips
« on: October 22, 2012, 07:44:31 AM »

Hello everyone, hope you have had a great fall fishing season.

In the Fraser Valley it is quite common for people to give up fishing once weather starts to cool in late October. For those in the know however, it becomes a time of superb fishing and less crowded waters.

At Bent Rods we continue to take people fishing well into late November.

As many of my return clients know, some of best Coho and Chum salmon fishing is about to begin and Sturgeon fishing in the Chilliwack area of the Fraser River is only begginning to hit its peak.

First off, the Coho are definately running late this season, we are just starting to see the arrival of the bigger fish. Of course there will be the usual late run of Northern Coho that favour the North side of the Fraser River and tribs.

If a day of chasing late season Coho on light action rods is what your after Bent Rods Guiding is who to call, we have our special river sled designed for quietly sneaking into the shallow backwaters where these brute Coho hide.

Just call our office at 604 794 5976 or email us at bentrodswife@bentrods.ca to get you and your friends booked.

Another late season favorite is the silver sided "blackhead" Chums. These especially strong and silver Chum salmon are not only the hardest fighting Salmon on the planet, but they are often harder to find, which is why having a proffessional fisherman who fishes them daily is a huge advantage. As far as table fare goes these late season Chum boast very red colored flesh and are excellent cooked in all your favorite Salmon recipes or smoked.

If you have not tried this fishery give us a call, we fish for the late Chum run often into December.

Last up is the amazing Sturgeon Fishing available right into December. In the upper Fraser Valley Sturgeon fishing just gets better as November rolls around. As the boat traffic diminishes and angling pressure drops, the big Sturgeon will once again find it safe to feed without threat of hooks in their food. It amazes me how much more relaxing and enjoyable Sturgeon fishing can be when you are not being rocked by boat waves every 5 minutes. In combination with either a day of Coho Fishing or Chum Fishing, an afternoon of Sturgeon Fishing is a great way to spend a fall afternoon.

We will be fishing Sturgeon for all of November before we put the rods away till early Spring.

That about wraps up our late fall fishing opportunities. December will my month of building jigs and spinners for the Winter Steelhead season and maybe a vacation to a Steelhead River in our beautiful province.

Tight lines and Bent Rods
