« on: October 07, 2012, 08:03:08 AM »

Took a drive along the river early this morning and never seen so many out. Observed fires, flashlights and headlights glowing in the dark, well before fishing time. ??? ::)

Glad to see "The Glove  vacant.

There is a double header at the top of the canal.

Was out today down the canal but failed to see my float go down even once!!!!

Water is extremely low now so I found it difficult to locate biting fish.

Stopped by to see Springs being "caught" below the KWB.

When fishing gets tough Chris always goes back to the Thursday run but trust me, it fishes better on Wednesday except on high tide, when often Friday and Monday are OK.  Due to crowds, he most often stays home on Saturdays and Sundays and checks for plucks on Tuesdays.
Your’e welcome :D :D :D

I watched the show at KWB this morning; no fist fights but lots of verbal threats across the river from anglers tangled together.  I did not see any intentional snagging, but long leaders were the norm. When I was there, 10 ish, I estimated maybe 40 fish (mainly chums but a few chinook and the odd coho, including a very sorry looking jack coho) frantically dodging the stuff thrown their way.  These fish were very stressed but thanks to the big rootwad in the deep holding water, had a place to hide.

Speaking of that rootwad ... full of gear!!!   anyone with a wetsuit should check this tacklestore out before highwater ... the angler's won't mind you swimming this pool  :D :D :D

Definitely tough to find fishing areas right now.

Me and 2 buddies and the gf got to a spot first light.
Top of the run filled up above us, and a guy decided to plant himself between my buddy Mike and my girlfriend in the 6 foot gap. He sure got an ear full from us.

The comment we got back was "I'm not gonna take this s**t from you little punks (older guy)." We proceeded to keep his drifts short by casting whenever we wanted like we were before he showed up. We told him we were swinging spoons and flies so too bad for him. Got instant gratification when all three of us were the only ones that hooked up all morning, and got some coho.

Can't believe the ignorance of people out here. The run was totally full, and we left 6 foot gaps in between each of us due to us swinging our gear through the run. The response we got from him baffled me as well. Tried to make his life miserable and he still lasted 2 hrs, but finally left after we beached a hatch.  I sure don't miss it out here, can't wait to go back to the island. Ended up leaving and somehow finding some untouched water and...  ;)

I took the boat out this afternoon for some trolling/spincasting.

anchored by the trainbridge ( not hopedale ) the trainbridge that is close to the mouth of the fraser
Fished it for a half hour, 5th cast of the day hit a nice size wild coho.
Fished for a few casts more and hit some grooooosss chum.

Suprising that they are moldy already and they havent even hit the canal yet.
Big Big schools of chum moved in and had a blast on them all day.

Got into a hatch coho but lost it just before the boat, it wrapped around my boat prop on its last dash as soon as the net hit the water...
Guess it wanted to spawn more than getting smoked... too bad because im fresh out of roe... and it was such a beautiful doe.

both coho were in the 10 lb range and had a really fun show to watch while fighting them. Very acrobatic.

On a side note, the wild life out today was beautiful. Got a 1st hand view of a bald eagle taking a trout or some small fish. about 30 feet from where i was anchored. and another seal taking a big chum from us. and leaving a half eaten body in the glass clear water for us to view.
Waved at the seal and it rolled and slapped the water. so ill take that as a hello back

A beaver was swimming around collecting the timberfish i wrangled up on some of my casts. so thank you honerable beaver. you noble creature. you collect those snags for us and keep out casting area clean and sandy  8)

Should be a good day for chum tomorrow as the water was almost boiling in spots with fish jumping.
