I was talking to the guys in freds the other day about different sink tips for my 6wt and they recommended an 8wt tip would be better for the rod i have since it is stiffer,
so i can't see why you wouldnt be able to either.

You don't need long or delicate casts for pinks so you will be fine.

the tips are just a heavier grain weight and provided your 6wt isnt an overly soft rod then you wont notice any problems casting just the heavier tips on your line. I have a home made 8wt sink tip i use on my 5wt when targeting pinks and it casts very well and very far and there is no issues

I have a fast action Sage 6wt that I often borrow tips from my 8wt versitip to use on without problem.

Floating line, longer leader and weighted flies will work fine. Don't need to use sinking lines for them unless you are trying to hook them in really fast water?
