Is it just me - or is Junior a wee bit on the larger side?

The bird shots are almost all exclusively with the Canon 100-400L  Shot with a Canon 7D.

Thanks.  Of course, this wasn't meant to be "Brian's Birds" so I'm looking forward to seeing more from the rest of you guys too! :)

A couple from Sunday...

The first is my old friend the Chestnut backed chickadee. Often overlooked, but still a pretty little bird:

The second - a pleasant surprise while walking around Burnaby Lake.  A Cedar Waxwing!

Made for a great wander around the lake!

Comments and critiques always welcome!

I don't know if my spotting has gotten better or not.  But I have spotted more Cedar Waxwings this year than I have in my life combined.  I am seeing them on power/cable lines all over the city of Vancouver (particulary around south Granville.  There were easily a dozen in a small area at TWU ponds last week as well.  I had never seen them in a small flock.  But I am pretty new to birding.

I definitely have found that as I take more photos of birds and become better at recognizing the different species that also seem to start noticing them more, so it probably is partially because you are paying more attention and that they aren't just "brown flying things" anymore :)

From a walk around the Reifel Bird Sanctuary on Saturday:

We are a bit between seasons now, so the pickin's were a bit slim.  I did, however manage a FEW decent shots:

1) Red Tailed Hawk:

2) GBH Posing:

3) White Crowned Sparrow:
