Shrimp as a bait
« on: February 15, 2010, 09:23:29 PM »

My mom tells me as i ask her if she can drive me to the grocery store, if the shrimp should be cooked(like boiled), or uncooked? That's my only question. Thanks.

Just use it raw. It works perfectly fine.

Raw prawns/shrimp work best.  You can also add a little bit of procure, then dry them out for a day or so.  Tight lines..

Use them both, If you decide to use them raw dry and cure them so they stay on the hook longer. I prefer cooked as I can fish all day with one piece.

One piece? You must be using a barb for one piece to stay on your hook all day.....Seriously?
I use cooked prawns that I use cured and scented and I go through 30-50 in a day....

Naka, I tend to just put the hook through one side and out the other....

I use about 4 pieces of bait per  1  to  1.5 hours. Selectively tied or roe sacked to last the time limit. That way i'm fishing rather than baiting up.  Shrimp or shrimp with egg (head) type set ups. Just the set up I use right now.

Changing up is the real deal though. Should have a thread on targeted fishing set ups again.

Slide it on the hook than wrap it with spider thread. This will make it last longer.

I've been using $3 frozen shrimp rings with some salt.

I hook thru them near the tail then tuck the tail shell portion under my bait loop to keep it there.  Lasts a long time.

It'd almost be more practical to stay home and eat the prawns!!  :o ;D

I double thread the hook through one piece, which tightens itself on the hook and allows for a spinning motion if placed right.
