Buyer Beware
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:17:35 AM »

FYI , I talked to a friend that camped at Ferry , Friday and Saturday and told me the natives had been drifting there after midnight every half hour . As well they were selling spring and sockeye at Ferry on Saturday  >:( .  Thing that bugs me is , he had said a few people bought from them  ??? .

Could you be a bit more specific in the location?

Dont leave your bar rods in the holders while you sleeping, they just might not be there when you wake up.... :'(

I  think it applies to all no tidal fishing in the Fraser river.  Including native drift netting!

One year I camped over night at grassy bar and hardly slept a wink. The non stop drift gill netters were in full swing, all night. This was before sockeye were even open for sporties. Somehow I don't think those catches were reported to DFO!!!! ::) They finally left at about 5am.

That is funny. i saw some drift netters on the Fraser @ 3 rd Richmond at about 2 am a few nights ago. I called DFO and they said it isn't illegal if they have a permit.

That would be tidal water... I'm not 100% sure about at night in non-tidal but that's what I was told and the reason was there is no enforcement at those hours.

This has been going on for years, and it also happens on the Harrison too...

And DFO does nothing about it.

Cheers,
