Spring Tying Thread

So I see some of you guys have started your spring tying (mainly fishfreak).

So what patterns have you guys been tying?

Has anyone been working with any new materials?

Anyone care to post some pics of their work so far this year.

I guess, I'll get the ball rolling, aside from tying chronies I've just tyed up a pretty big batch of spratleys. I figure I'll do lots of tying in front of the tv this spring as I'm sure I'll have lots of playoff hockey to be wathcing  ;)

Hey Biff. I'll go take some pic's. now, I got one of those magic tools so am doing some experimenting...nice looking sprats...

My camera isn't taking the best of shots lately...here's some damsels i've been doing, and leechs.



the two on the outside are with the magic tool, you can't see how many different colors are in these which suck...some excellent mixes of dubbing and feathers...anyways,


Old stand by's...damsel nymph, phesant tail mayfly nymph, red spratley, and one of my fav's a carrey special...i'm starting to fish soft hackles allot more and do well with them..

How about copper wrapped around an #6 english bait hook?  Its going to catch me at least a dozen rainbows on friday.  ;D

I've done about 40 Chironomids so far. A few natural leech patterns, some with semi seal in a dubbing loop. Also tied some #16 micro leeches in olive/brown for a Fry imitation.

Damn those are nice shots...I wish my camera was taking decent shots...

I'm heading for the Yakima next weekend it looks like with the club...Gonna do a float down it a few times and see what a blue ribbon river is all about.. ;)

Yo Xgolfman, check if your camera has a macro setting.  On mine it looks like a little flower, and its good for close ups.

as for patterns, bring wire worms, midge patterns, evil weevils, prince, psuedoprince, a couple kauffmans stone (black size 8).  I doubt there will be much surface action, but you never know, so maybe some blue wing olives.  bring strike indicators too (big corkies).

its a ... sheeit I don't know what it is really? I read in one of chans books about um and saw it in a shop... it's supposed to make some really nice dubbing and feather mixes...and it does do that... I've come up with some wicked looking bugs..don't know if they'll catch anything but it's fun to play with... I'll find the link and post it..lets see if this works..

Randy at hatch matcher's is ordering some of those magic tools into the store. He has one for himself and I was watching him make some flies with it. The flies sure turn out amazing. They do take some practice but I think it would be worth it.
