Purchasing Waders
« on: March 15, 2007, 04:29:06 PM »

Hi Everybody!

Well, it's been about 10 years since I last purchased some waders, and I would like your opinions on different styles that would work best for me. I don't use my float tube as often as I used to as I have been doing alot more river fishing. What will work best that will keep me warm in the water, but are easy to be mobile in? Should I invest in some sort of boot as well, or is there a combination of the two out there? I don't want to spend more than $500 if I don't have to, but would love to hear what you guys wear out there so I can make an educated decision. Also, what exactly is a waist belt? Thanks to anyone who replies and can help! I'm tired of having cold wet feet in the river, it makes for a short day.
Tight Lines!

I recently bought the Bare Blackwaters and I have to say that after three trips out I love them, very good fit , really comforatable and they are quite rugged, unless they start leaking for no reason I have to wonder what people find they don't like about them !

The issue with them was that they didn't fit right on most people and developed pin hole leaks at the crotch very quickly. They seemed to have rectified this problem with the newer versions.

BARE BLACK WATERS  ;D

AMEN BONKER  ;D

RW pretty much nailed it on the nose as well....I have the black waters and I love them! probably got 50 days in them now...and they are comfy! I also thought I'd try to wear them last yr during sockeye season....35 degree day out...and I wore a pair of extra light track pants underneath..and man..it felt like I was naked...I was nice and cool... ;D very durable...I've been in some insane places this fall/winter with them and so far no leaks/rips!

The best boots for the buck in my mind are the KORKER CONVERTABLES! awsome soles, and very comfortable!....I have a pair and switching from felt to rubber lug trail sole is easy as 1 2 3.....they come with the felt, and rubber lug sole...beauty boots!

Also the Bare's have a lift time warranty on all the seams. And since they are local(Langley) you get them back really quick and shipping is cheap.

Thanks for the great advice!  I'm thinking I might try the barebacks, as I had neo before. No complaints, but a little inconvenient to lug around.  Also, knowing that the bareblacks are made locally is great, I gotta support that, and cutom fitting would be ideal, considering my height.(6'6")

I'm gonna do some research into those cork boots, they sound like a well rounded product and a good investment.  Thank you so much everybody! ;)

Gotta go with the Simms G3.  I have over 200 days in mine and they still look and feel great.  No leaks, 5 layers on knees and butt and 3 layers everywhere else.  There's a reason that more guides world wide use Simms than any other wader.  You may have to make a trip to the states to get them at a reasonable price, but if you do, you won't be disappointed.

It's a thing of beauty.  I'm waiting for my wading jacket (Orvis) to kick the bucket then I'll start saving my sheckles for the G3.
