Sashimi is the term for a type of sushi, a chunk of raw fish.  Not to be confused with a roll of anykind.

You can have Tuna Sashimi, or the Sashimi mentioned here is Salmon Sashimi.

Anyone wanting more info on making your own Sushi can read the thread I started in the Kitchen.

Lot's of info and opinions out there as to whats safe and whats not....it basically comes down to your comfort level and risk tollerance when it comes to making your own.

I talked to a friend of mine who is the head sushi chef at Kito Japanese house on Robson. He says that with your standard home style freezer 4-5 days of freezing the salmon will be good, if you freeze it for a week then thats more than enough.

If you have ever eaten sashimi you will love fresh white spring, its just like the tuna you get in sushi places. If you have'nt eaten sashimi...get with it man!!
