So bad.

But hey, it's capitalism.

ps...on that link it says "20% to 40% off" - is that much considering most items are sold at "retail" anyways? What would be a good buy?

Quite true Dennis! If the place was  so fabulous well run and prosperous then there would have been lots of profits to share and they wouldn't be in Receivership.

I've had some real bargains from Maynard's sales over the years and am looking forward to more.

Of course a person has to watch not everything will be a deal and it's only a bargain if you need it.

If they had money to buy out Scott why don't they have money to stay in business? I really don't understand ecomnomiks.

It wasn't Scott who as bought out.
The guy who bankrolled the store wanted his money back as he wasn't getting the return he thought he deserved-so he pulled the plug.

Ahhhh I see....hmm...still too bad...the store tried some novel things to spice up the fishing experience...I liked the beer evenings best and the young women were quite pleasant in their well coifed hairdoos..  :-*

What I heard (and its second hand info) is that when the owner/oporator opened the store he had a single investor to help him get up an running.  I have been told that the investor put in $2 to every $1 the owner/operator antied up with.

The dispute came from what to do with the profits (ie the investor wanted 2/3 of the profit) and that landed the store in its current perdicament...

If the store is indeed profitable, hopefully Scott will find a way to get things back up and running.

Does anyone know if they have rod building supplies?  I could use some cork.

Excellent Store with Excellent Service. I'll be sad to see it go, but I'll be there looking for a deal. I always thought that Anglers West was the nicest store in the lowermain land, and more often than not they got my business. Especially  after the my last visit to M&Y

I wont be there, out of respect for scott.  But hey, if you dont mind profiting on others misfortunes, thats your perrogative.  Sam you don't know the facts, you shouldnt pretend to.  The fact that you are celebrating the closure of a great fishing store highlights your continued disregard for other people and your general selfishness.  Way to go, another shameless post.

While it truly sucks that a classy guy like Scott had problems which resulted in this, I would have to say that buying stuff from the receivership sale isn't disrespectful.   You're not taking money from Scott at this point.  From what I understand in these situations he is now out of the cash flow picture, and it is the receiver who is handling the liquidation of remaining assets.

On that note, it would be nice if we didn't sound "celebratory" at the opportunity to save money due to a good man's business misfortune.

Sad state of affairs. Scott is a class guy who has contributed alot to the fishing community. Too bad he was $#@ by his so called partner.
