May's website update
« on: May 01, 2005, 12:28:02 AM »

Lots of new items on the main page. Click on refresh please.

The most important one to read right now is probably the upcoming Save Our Salmon Summit up north. Please take the time to read their website.

This month's fish profile section features the yellow perch.

Photos of All About Fishing Weekend are now posted.

Up Close & Personal: Some closeup shots of our winter catches.

Trout stocking information is now updated in my Lower Mainland Report.

May events

Still to come:

May's Fishy Links
May's Featured Fly
Couple other articles on trout fishing in the Lower Mainland.
And the usual updated fishing reports across BC.
24 new photos in the photo gallery.

Enjoy! :)

"This North American species is the smaller cousin of the European perch. Their average size is at the 1lb range"
Make that 0.5/lb or 200-300 grams-a one pound Yellow Perch is quite a large fish for that species.
I grew up catching them so I know.
EDIT-In any case as much as I appreciate all the info and work that goes into putting that info onto the web I find the font here difficult to read.
It's too small/thin and the colours have little contrast for these old eyes-especially the Main Page.
That's why I rarely go there.

You're right, for average... should be reworded. What was your biggest when you fished in Ontario?

I'm still looking for one of the bigger european perch (redfin)... ;)

Regarding web font. We decided to go with the 12 points for most words and 10 points for some. The 12 points were the size we used for the previous version, the only difference is that you cannot adjust text size with the browser now. I did this to satisfy the overall layout so nothing looks crooked when text size is enlarged on the browser.

Maybe wear glasses, or lower screen resolution. ;) I'll keep this in mind, but can't promise anything for now.

As for the forum font size, I don't know what's going on yet. It appears small for you guys, but for me, the font is actually huge! I don't know if it is the same for dragonspeed.

Forum font is browser adjustable.  I think it may be a bit smaller than previously, but I've become acustomed to it.

Lower Mainland lake stocking has been updated in the fishing report section.

The staff at the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery have informed me today that they will be conducting more stockings at Lower Mainland lakes in the next two weeks. :)

Holy Crap...they actually bother putting Rainbows into Deer Lake. Would't something like a mud skipper be better? ;)
