Survivalist due in court over 2019 YouTube series in Banff
« on: February 02, 2022, 04:09:07 PM »

Still stuck in Covid isolation at home and slowly going crazy due to the combination of toddler/cabin fever.

Saw this article today and it gave me a good laugh. You'd think the first thing you'd do would be to check all the local/provincial/federal laws, hunting regs, and fishing regs before filming a series in a national park and publishing it publicly on Youtube.

From the article:
"Ovens says both he and Fowler obtained fishing licenses but didn't realize that the mountain lakes in Banff, Yoho and Kootenay national parks had switched to catch and release a few years ago because of concerns about whirling disease. [...] "We're not denying that we were there doing these things," Ovens said. "I mean, it's obvious in the videos, but it's just the principle that they don't do anything to let the public know when they change the rules."

The regs were changed to C&R years ago, according to the article. Good reminder for new anglers that it's your responsibility to check the regs ::)
