Pretty sure years ago, it was posted on that sign they have depicting all the different species of fish the lake carries.  Lake Trout, and Dolly Vardens were on there.

worked at the north end of alouette for years and had a picture from b.c. outdoors magazine inside my locker door of a young girl from maple ridge with a 30 pound plus lake trout caught late 70s early 80s. Out with her family they ran out of spinning gear so dad hooked her up with a mooching rod ,flasher, weights and big metal lure that were spares on the boat

The Father and Daughter were from Port Coquitlam and lived just up the street from us.
Would have been around early 80,s as you say.
I heard it from him and read the article in BC Outdoors.
