I was just watching hoarders and the show featured a man named Chris Gadsden who had a closet in his basement filled with floats. When they opened the closet the floats all came tumbling out. The drennans were on the bottom to keep from getting damaged. I am jealous.  ;)

Arrived at "The Glove" with the flood tide in full force, 3 familiar faces there and 2 strangers who were setting the hook at the end of most drift with their floats laying on their sides with too long of leaders in my books. They were using single eggs or a corkie.

While chatting to Sonny I asked one why he was setting the hook so often? "Just to excite you" one of them said with a grin. Of course all this striking just spooks the fish.

I think they did not like our comments and moved on to continue their activity elsewhere.

Soon after they left the bite started and the 4 of us had lots of action and landed a few coho jacks each and missed many as well as losing many others. Good sport to see our floats going down on so many drifts. As the water slowed with the flood backing up the flow it was harder to hook the little chaps. You could see your bait and then see it disappear as the jack grabbed the roe.

I ran out of bait 15 minutes before the end of the evening but was content to take home two of these tasty morsels.

The only downer of the trip was I hooked and landed my first coho adult of the season, a 8 to 9 pound silver bullet wild buck, also I foul hooked it in the pectoral fin, took some ribbing "You flosser you."

Well I have been delinquent in posting reports lately and so, feeling a bit guilty here goes. Fresh upon my return from the Oregon coast, having spent 4 beautiful days there what do you think I should do ? Well go fishing of course !!! And so on Tuesday I zoomed down to the Vedder, a little later than usual arriving at 11:30 AM. I fished the Wilson Rd. area and of course saw long liner's and flosser's but like a man on a mission I proceeded to operate in working man fashion. I had a doctor's appt. at 4 so time was really in short supply. I caught lot's of chum's, 1 beauty spring and a 9 lb. coho. Not to shabby for a 3 hour run and I had so much fun that when I came home I asked the missus' if she would mind if I went out again on Wednesday. Being the sweety she is I was allowed to go play with the fishies again today as well.

I woke up at 4:45 AM primed and ready, pushed the button for coffee, loaded up and away I went. It was an almost Halloweenesque drive to the river what with the fog clouding and slowing everything up but I arrived at my spot at 6:30, 15 minutes before first light. This time I chose the canal to fish and even at this early hour there were still 4 people already there. Everyone at our spot was short float fishing and doing their best but the fish were'nt obliging and to everyone's surprise not a fish was caught for the first hour.

Then the fish woke up and we started nailing chums of course and as the day elapsed more people showed up but after 4 hours not a coho had been caught. I stayed at this spot fishing from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM  and only managed 1 small coho jack that I let go, I doe chum and 1 beauty spring. One fellow caught one hatchery coho and that was it for the day. Mostly chummer's, 1 spring and 1 8 lb. coho. Very slow for the coho today and I was thinking I should of went back to Wilson Rd. but alas, it is what it is. Still a great day on the flow, sure beat working.

Good Fishing All !!!

I started my day arriving at the upper river spot. A few guys in the area, but a good looking spot with some fish junping was not being fished. Lost a hatchery coho at the beach being too eager to haul it in and having a snapped leader. Kept a jackspring and released a big spring, and lost a couple of other coho before the sun came out and the bit died off. All on roe.
Headed downriver to the canal and it was really foggy there. It was low tide and I have never seem th canal that low (haven't fished much this year). Walked around a bit and again found a spot where coho were showing and nobody was fishing? A bit hard to fish as frog water with some logs but managed to land one hatchery coho and lose a couple more on blades before it was time to head off to work in the afternoon.
A good day, the low water did not seem to be an issue with the foggy conditions. We'll see what the rain brings.
