arrogance and showing off
« on: February 20, 2007, 06:16:13 PM »

I am guilty of this from time to time, and recently have been called out and basically told that I'm full of hooey that I have even suggested it.  What I'm talking about is that some people might post just to show off or simply display their knowledge of a subject, sometimes even calling other people's posts "silly".  I personally like to see pictures of fish, the river or what ever; the more the merrier.

In a discussion forum where the male to female ratio is 12.3 to 1, I would be surprised if there are no arrogance and show-offs being displayed. ;)

Members will always disagree from time to time on a subject (eg. in the one that you have been actively participating), but you can express that disagreement in a non-offensive manner. If frenchy or Ribwart's willingness of sharing what they think is correct is arrogance, then I'm not sure if there is a need of a general discussion section at all, perhaps we'll just have a fishing photo section where people can pose their catches. :) If you find a particular member's comment offensive personally, then click on the report to moderator link at the bottom of each post, and we'll take care of it.

Good point Rodney.  I can't complain too much, because I am definitely just as guilty.  From now on, I'll take things with a grain of salt and just not call anyone out.

Thats good-- it just might keep you from putting your foot in your mouth up to the knee like you have done in the past....

You know-- you could try a "whoops-- sorry!" or "my mistake-- sorry"   Its called an apology for slagging someone when you were out of line with your comments....

And -yes-- I can let it drop as I have a thick skin and forgive easily when someone makes a mistake.  ( But they have to recognize it first....)

Ok Schenley, Here it goes.   For the sake of doing the right thing, I took things a little too personal and let my testosterone do the talking.
